Oral history interview : Josephine Lewis Utley, Reed College, class of 1939 / interviewed by Deborah A. Prince, 1971, on May 21, 2001.

A native Oregonian, Josephine Lewis Utley was born in Corvallis, Oregon. Due to funding difficulties, she spent 5 years at Reed. Her sister, Claudia Louise Lewis, 1930, also graduated from Reed. Josephine married and divorced while she was a student. She remembers Lloyd Reynolds as an inspiring teacher and advisor. She also remembers Victor and Edna Chittick, having taken piano lessons from Edna. She discusses the intervisitation issue about the campus dormitories, was active in the Gawdawfullers, the literary group, and was a friend of Mary Barnard.
